Step 10 AI

Step 10 AI is a private journal for a daily tenth-step practice. What you write stays on your phone. There is no account, no sign-in, and no server belonging to this app.

The one exception is the AI features, and only when you use them: the text involved is sent to Anthropic to generate a response, then the reply comes back. Nothing else leaves your device.

What is stored, and where

Your spot checks, nightly reviews and chat history are saved in the app's own storage on your device. They are not uploaded, synced or backed up by this app. If your phone is backed up through iCloud or a computer, the app's data is included in that backup under Apple's terms, not ours.

If you enter your own Anthropic API key, it is held in the device Keychain.

What is sent to the AI, and when

Everything below goes straight from your device to Anthropic's API — never through, and never retrievable, readable, or accessible by, the developer.

Reflective check: When you finish writing a spot check or a nightly review entry, the text of that entry is sent so the AI can respond to it.
Gratitude spelling check: If you use the gratitude list, its text is sent for a spelling pass only — correcting typos, not judging what you wrote.
Chat with the log: When you open the chat, your recent entries are sent so the AI can discuss them — up to 100 entries from the previous 90 days, along with the messages in that conversation.
Where it goes: Directly to Anthropic's API at api.anthropic.com, over an encrypted connection, and to no other server. Anthropic's handling of that data is governed by their privacy policy.

If you never use the AI features, nothing ever leaves your device.

Not accessible to the developer

There is no server belonging to this app sitting between your device and Anthropic. An AI request leaves your phone, reaches Anthropic's API directly, and the reply comes straight back to your device — nothing is logged, relayed, copied, or stored anywhere the developer can reach. What you write during a reflective check, a gratitude spelling pass, or a chat is never retrievable, readable, or accessible by the developer, before or after it's sent.

What is never collected

No account, email address or name is required or requested.
No analytics, telemetry or usage tracking of any kind.
No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
No third-party SDKs. The app contacts exactly one address, Anthropic's API, and nothing else.
Your entries are never sold, shared or used to train any model by this app.

During the test period

This app is currently distributed for testing through Apple's TestFlight. Apple collects its own information about TestFlight installs and crashes, described in Apple's TestFlight privacy notice. Testers who join through a public link are anonymous to the developer.

What you control

You can export your log to a file, import it onto another device, and delete any entry or the whole conversation from inside the app. Deleting the app removes its stored data from your phone.

The AI's standing tone preference, built up through chat, can be viewed, exported, imported, and reset in Settings.

Children

Step 10 AI is intended for adults and is not directed at children.
